Yes – firearm training is a stand-alone course; you can do all types of firearms private and business purpose without having Psira grades.
No- Private use/ handle and use of firearms is the prerequisite course for Business purpose, course, this certificate is required by SAPS for your application of a competence with the SAPS. You require SAPS competence certificate before you may use any firearm privately or under business environment.
According to FCA 60/2000, SAPS require at least 90 days to process your application. It is with this time you may expect response from SAPS for your application approval/decline.
Yes- however there is procedure to be followed. Though the course is offered in English, they may be translated into your language for your understanding. The same procedure will follow-up as in a normal circumstance, you will need to complete the formative test, and summative test through a translate.
It depends when you did your training and if your training was uploaded on the PFTC LMS system (if you have statement of result). In the scenario where you have done your training before 2012, we would suggest you redo all the training to align yourself with the new updated unit standard. FCA 60/2000 and to refresh your skills. If you have done your training after 2012, you may not need to redo the full course but do Recognition of Prio learning (RPL). But you will need to provide you old training certificate and do a reassessment.
You need to do training relevant to that type of firearm, apply a competence from the SAPS, when you received your competence then you can apply for the licences for the firearm.
